As 268XA is commonly used for applications like wet sanding, it's helpful to have an abrasive that can be run wet or dry. Moreover, using a lubricant like water can help wash away excess debris, preventing it from discoloring the substrate. So, operators should select a smaller grade, like A5, for a fine finish and a larger grade, like A35, for a coarser finish. Discs are color-coded by grade, to reduce the risk of mistakenly selecting the wrong grade in a sequence.
