The Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip Hook and Loop XT Disc is a long lasting surface conditioning disc designed to remove coatings, rust and weld discoloration. It combines extra coarse (XCS) silicon carbide mineral with open web, so the disc can aggressively clean without significantly altering the base material. Aggressive Cut, Spongy Open Web To engineer Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Strip Hook and Loop XT Disc, extra coarse silicon carbide mineral is combined with non-woven nylon fibers using resin. Silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint prep. While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish. Altogether, this surface conditioning disc delivers a sharp, consistent cut without compromising part geometry. The resin bond strengthens the disc and breaks down gradually to reveal new fibers and sharp mineral, so the abrasive cuts consistently. Moreover, gaps in the nylon fibers permit air flow, which may reduce the risk of heating or warping the substrate. The sharp-cutting mineral and responsive open web make this abrasive well suited for projects like coating, sealant, paint and rust removal and weld cleaning. Hook and Loop Attachment With the convenience of the Hook and Loop backing, disc change-out for multi-step projects is both quick and easy. The Hook and Loop backing is designed to be used with Hook and Loop holder pads (sold separately).
