What you Need to Know

At any work site, more important than getting the job done is getting it done safely. Burns are among the most common injuries in the workplace. It is highly important for workers to be trained on how to prevent injuries and how to treat burns if they do happen. The main three types of burns that can happen in the workplace are thermal heat, chemical and electrical. Each burn has its own recommended treatment.

For burn safety, OSHA recommends staff training in the proper handling of dangerous, flammable or toxic materials. This includes knowing which materials can cause burns and how to treat if necessary.

All job sites should have first aid kits that are easily accessible throughout the workplace.

An inexpensive item to add to your first aid kit at work is the First Aid Only brand burn cream. It’s perfect for minor cuts, burns and abrasions. This antiseptic and external analgesic helps prevent infection, relieves pain, and provides temporary relief.
